Autumn will be a very busy season for TorinoFilmLab, which is introducing major changes in its training activities for the audiovisual industry. The Torino-based laboratory supporting international talents has just unveiled what prospect participants and Alumni can expect to be fully introduced to between this fall and the beginning of 2017.
First of all, as an Alumnus of the Audience Design Programme, I’m happy to hear that the initiative I attended in 2012 is still at the core of TFL’s offer. It has now been reshaped and merged with the formerly known FrameWork Programme: they go now hand-in-hand under the name FeatureLab. This is a comprehensive package combining support and consultancy to scriptwriters and directors working on their first and second features, as well as training to media/digital professionals developing cutting-edge audience engagement strategies for independent and art-house films. The call for applications will be launched on 9 January 2017.
On the other hand, the call for ScriptLab, the script development programme matching producers and screenwriters wishing to work “on commission”, is already open. It blends the programmes previously known as Script&Pitch, Adapt Lab and Story Editing, and welcomes applications in four key areas: film projects focused on original scripts, adaptations, works on commission and story editing. These are far from being the only news announced by the TFL team. One of the most exciting training activities is indeed the brand new SeriesLab, aimed at creating and developing high profile international TV series. This marks TFL’s attempt to cover all the key stages leading to the creation of a television series concept, up to its presentation at the Séries Mania Festival.
